Industrial Design and Technology
Final year project
Empowering rural communities with the technology and equipment to detect and stay safe from wildfires.
LIFE LINK
LIFE LINK beacons create a mesh network of communication to guide users to safe locations, with an SOS emergency location feature for urgent response.
LIFE LINK HUB
The system of products is centralised around the in-home emergency hub. Here the local wildfire risk is relayed live through the LED 'risk ring', noise alerts and a visual map.
LIFE LINK SENSORS AND WEARABLE
Environmental data's collected through a system of outdoor sensors which build a map of when and where there is a high wildfire risk, route of fire travel and safe locations.
Eden
Eden is a smart indoor vertical garden enhanced through the use of technology to purify the air within its surroundings, connecting people living in urban environments to natural processes.
Eden
Eden integrates natural weather processes with smart home technology, creating a sense of tranquility within city living spaces.
HeartSense
HeartSense aims to improve out of hospital response to cardiac arrests for high-risk patients. Utilising electrocardiogram technology and AI to intervene within the first minutes of the chain of survival.
The product system brings a shared and connected AED device to local communities.

Last year the number of wildfires has been well above average, with increasing risk and fatalities globally. This proposal aims to connect rural communities with environmental data sourced at a local level in order to better predict and track wildfire risks. The product system also provides a robust communication network, enabling people to remain connected, locatable and safe during the event of a wildfire.
Throughout my time at Loughborough I have been able to work on projects encompassing a wide breadth of skills both digital and physical. As a designer I enjoy working iteratively with a strong user focused approach, offering innovative solutions based upon key insights identified through the research stages of the design process. I believe my skills enable me to offer creative solutions for not only physical products but also user experiences, systems and services. Whilst working within industry at leading design consultancies, I was able to experience the full design process from strategic ideation through to implementation and bringing products to market. Through this collaborative team process I learnt how to identify future design trends and to deliver new ideas with a user centred approach for large global companies. I aim to continue within a career that enables me to be at the forefront of design and innovation, whilst hoping to further develop my design skills in an exciting new environment.
