The ability to get up from a chair is an important component in maintaining independence for an elderly person living at home. Once an elderly person has risen from a chair, their balance can be skewed resulting in tripping and falling over. This assistive device can reduce the fear of falling, through building confidence to rise from a chair safely and independently.

My passion for design brought me to the PDT course here at Loughborough, and the skills developed and knowledge gained over the past 4 years have only strengthened my drive. A willingness to take risks sent me overseas for my placement year, where I furthered my ability to adapt quickly to new surroundings, environments and challenges. As my time here at Loughborough draws to a close, I look forward to a career in design where I can develop both myself and my skillset further.
