Final year project
Cycle is a reusable device that can test for both pregnancy and ovulation, users have the ability to track and monitor their results, this aims to not only improve the cost and environmental implications associated with current single-use tests, but also improve the journey of trying to conceive for those who struggle to do so.
Cycle
Cycle is a reusable pregnancy test and fertility monitor aimed at women struggling to conceive. By combining fertility testing and pregnancy testing into one device it creates a more sustainable and cost-effective alternative for these users, as they are not relying on single-use plastic devices.
The device
Cycle appreciates that pregnancy can be life-changing. The product has been designed so that the results can be revealed when the user is ready. This adds more sensitivity to the process.
The app
The Cycle app allows the fertility results and pregnancy results to be stored if the user chooses. By recording this data, the app can provide useful insights to the user about their cycle in an aim to enhance their chances of successfully conceiving.
Layer

Layer 02
Layer is designed so that its filters can be easily replaced by the user.
ERA

Claire Thompson
I am a creative individual who has a passion for innovation and design.
My best work has derived from projects with a strong user-centred focus. This encompasses project work in service design, UX design and product design. I find enjoyment most when the projects I undertake employ a more holistic approach to the problem at hand, this is where I have found a strong passion in the research phases of design. I embrace delivering insights from research into the design solution, to create a usable product, system or service. When designing, I enjoy being technically challenged, testing the designs and iterating until a desirable solution is achieved. Being immersed in the fast moving consumer goods industry during my placement year for a leading supplier of added value brands and customer branded foods to the Irish and UK FMCG markets enabled me to understand the importance of graphical elements in design and the importance in the small details. These skills are transferable to many design applications. In the future, I would like to develop my skills further in design practice. I would like to engage in a collaborative work environment that can enable me to expand my current skill set.
