Jack Whitefoot
My aims as a designer are to create consumer products which surprise and delight their users, to provide innovative, practical solutions to problems and apply myself fully to every project.
During my studies I have developed a scrupulous eye for detail and gained an in-depth practical understanding of design for manufacture, CAD (primarily Solidworks) and additive manufacturing. I have an exceptional work ethic, am thought of as friendly and engaging, and work well independently or in a team. Some of the work I have found most interesting has been focused on consumer products which provide solutions to everyday problems or which harness the advantages of additive manufacturing. During my third year, my key role at product design consultancy Simple Design Works Ltd enabled me to co-design products in many challenging sectors from industrial tooling and exhibition kits to packaging and lighting; developing my problem-solving and interpersonal skills whilst working closely with clients and manufacturers. I was able to advance several projects by identifying new design solutions and became an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team. Two years ago, I established Whitefoot 3D as a design and 3D printing service which has grown from a personal project to become the UK’s leading provider of bespoke trophies for international wargaming tournaments. Looking ahead I aim to build a successful career which challenges my ability as a designer to make a positive difference to other people. I am particularly interested in working within product design consultancies and the toy sector.
