Encouraging individuals to record their family’s stories surrounding photographs from their lives for future generations to enjoy.

Preserving families’ stories alongside photographs from their lives for future viewing.
As photo albums are passed down, personal stories and context surrounding the photographs and era are lost. Recall encourages individuals to start recording their own stories and their family’s stories surrounding photographs from their life. Preserving their memories and personality for more intimate future viewing and for future generations to better understand and connect with their family’s history. The aim for recall was to use tactile interactions reminiscent of the film era to evoke nostalgia and create a physical connection between the users and their forgotten photographs.

Docking Wheel
Each family member has a physical area, which their photographs and stories are saved to. Within each album is a photograph on slide film which enables the user to quickly identify the albums owner - reminiscent of viewing film negatives in a dark room. When multiple areas are docked together in the wheel, photographs containing the individuals together are projected. The docking wheel provides a physical touchpoint that allows the user to control the main functions of the product.

Microphone Module
The microphone module is dual use, one side is a remote that controls the projector unit. The other side records and links the individual’s stories to their physical or digital photographs, which are then saved to their area and backed-up by the service to ensure their preservation.

NAVI - A Courier Navigation System
NAVI is an integrated navigation and bike safety system for courier riders in urban environment. The stem houses a GPS system that enables the user to quickly traverse the urban landscape to deliver the package using the fastest and most efficient route. The integrated bike lights and indicators provide the rider with more presence on the road to improve their safety.

Tackling Bicycle Crime
376,000 bicycles are stolen in the UK each year with only 2.4% being recovered. NAVI is designed to tackle this by using GPS tracking system that will alerts the owner if the bike starts to move without them and will continue to send its location to them without alerting the bike thief. The owner can then provide the police with an exact location of the bike to ensure it is retrieved.

Nirbhaya - The Fearless One
In 2016 a woman was raped every 13 minutes. Six women were gang-raped each day & a bride was murdered for dowry every 69 minutes. (The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data). Nirbhaya is an anti-assault necklace that allows women to have the confidence to walk the streets safe in the knowledge that they are protected by a female police force. Nirbhaya allows women to quickly alert the service and the police of a potential incident secretly and quickly ensuring the incident is dealt with before it escalates. Preventing women going through the harrowing experience of sexual assault.

Women Protecting Women
Nirbhaya allows women to quickly alert the service and the police of a potential incident discretely ensuring the incident is dealt with before it escalates. Each bead has a threat level which corresponds to an appropriate response from the service, primarily run by females alongside the expanding female police force. The beads allow the user to quickly check which threat level she has set it on using her sense of touch as to not draw attention to the device.

I am problem-solving industrial designer, able to produce well thought through solutions backed up by technical knowledge and a passion to create meaningful interactions and long-lasting experiences.
I pride myself in my ability to see solutions in any problem which is why one of my favourite parts of final year has been the group tutorials, where I have been able to weigh in on my peers’ projects and discuss with them my thoughts and ideas and their reasoning for their design decisions. I enjoy creating meaningful user interactions that provide a long-lasting connection between the user, the product and the designer. I think it is extremely important that the user is at the centre of all the design decisions made to ensure that their needs are understood and catered for. I am a very technical Industrial designer with a strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and their key requirements which was an integral part of my placement at FSW Design. Thus, allowing me to design during the early ideation stages with manufacturing in mind – importantly, this ensures that the design intent is not altered during the latter stages of the design process. This technical knowledge, coupled with an outrageous affinity for CAD enabled me to take on a huge amount of responsibility during my placement, working projects from conception to tooling.
