UTILISING EMOTIONAL DATA TO CREATE HIGHLY EXPRESSIVE MUSIC
Data Acquisition and Processing
The wearable uses four biometric sensors to determine the emotional state of the user. The desktop device subsequently stores, manipulates and communicates the data to music production software and hardware.
Functional Prototype
An electronic prototype was constructed that converts the biometric sensor data into analog voltages. These voltages can then be adjusted and used to control parameters of modular synthesisers.
Integrating Experiences
The user can uniquely integrate their experiences into music productions by using the wearables back log record function to capture their emotional response to spontaneous experiences.

Approaches challenges and problems in an individual and unconventional manner, seeking alternative and 'out of the box' solutions. Unyielding focus on detail and persistent drive for the highest quality and standard.
The design (final year project) enables highly expressive music to be created by monitoring, recording and using the users' emotional state to control parameters of sound. This utilises uncertainty and uncontrollability to generate distinctive and life-like music that directly reflects the users current emotional state or their emotional response to an experience. This concept will be combined with experimental film to accurately depict experiences through sound and cinematography. Furthermore, the concept will be used to create a highly personal and immersive experience where real-time emotional data will be used to stimulate an individuals senses.
